Calliope announces auditions for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a musical by Stephen Sondheim.
The Cast
Teens (16 - 19) will be considered for the Ensemble only.
FEMALE ENSEMBLE: 6 Female Ensemble Members Age: 20s – 30s. (limited singing but must have dance experience) All are courtesans belonging to Marcus Lycus:
Gymnasia: Tall, buxom, athletic. (the only courtesan who has speaking line)
Tintinabula: Jingling, bell-wearing dancer
Vibrata: Wild and vibrant
Geminae: A pair of twins MALE ENSEMBLE: 3 Male Ensemble Members or Proteans Age 20s – 50s
They play all ancillary characters (slaves, citizens, soldiers, and eunuchs).

The Auditions
All auditionees will do cold readings from the script and be expected to sing "Comedy Tonight" for their vocal audition. A pdf of the song is provided. There will be no time for vocal warm-ups during the audition, so please warm-up on your own if you will need to.
Actors auditioning for principal roles may opt to sing a solo from the score of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and should bring their own copy of the music to sing from. The pianist already has copy of the score to play from.
