Calliope announces auditions for Annie, the Broadway musical.

Annie was adapted from the comic strip: Annie is an 11-year-old orphan who longs for her parents to rescue her from the Municipal Orphanage and its mean-spirited matron, Agatha Hannigan. When billionaire Oliver Warbucks stumbles upon the little orphan and decides to adopt her, he must first deal with Miss Hannigan's oportunistic schemes.

    December 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15:

  • 7:30 pm performances on Thu., Fri., Sat. (Thursday first weekend only)
  • 2:00 pm matinee performances on Sundays and the second Saturday (Dec 14)

    Auditions will also consist of cold readings from the script. Auditionees should prepare 32 bars of any musical theater song. Provide sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist, with the 32 bars clearly marked (no transpositions on site).

    Adults, please bring a second song in a contrasting style, if time allows and if the directors ask to hear anything else.

    Auditions are held at Calliope Theatre, 150 Main Street, Boylston, MA 01505.

    Miss Hannigan - Mean-spirited orphanage matron. Adult female any age. (A to A flat)
    Daddy Warbucks - Billionaire businessman. Older adult male. (C to high F)
    Grace - Warbucks' secretary. Young adult female. (A to high G)
    Rooster Hannigan - Miss Hannigan's brother. Young adult male. (B to high G)
    Lily St. Regis - Rooster's girlfriend. Young adult female. (D to high G)
    Molly, Pepper, Duffy, July, Tessie, Kate - orphans. Six pre-teen girls -- ages 8-12
    President Roosevelt - Older adult male. (C flat to E sharp)
    Louis Brandeis - Supreme Court Justice. Older adult male.
    Drake - Warbucks' butler and close friend. Adult male. (Baritone)
    Bert Healy - Radio announcer. Male, any age.
    The Boylan Sisters - Trio of older teens or young adults. (able to sing harmonies)
    Lt. Ward - Policeman. Male, any age.
    Dog Catcher - Male, any age
    Bundles - Laundryman. Male, any age.
    Roosevelt's Cabinet - Five adult men, One woman, any ages.
    Ensemble of Servants, Cooks, Maids, New Yorkers, Hoovervilles - older teens or adults.
