Calliope announces auditions for All Bark, No Bite, a comedy by Kara Emily Krantz.

Charlotte and Eugene live a quiet, no-nonsense lifestyle surrounded by sudoku and argyle. Robert and Bella are boisterous and messy and ridiculously in love. Then there's the neighbor, Suzanne, who basically doesn't know what's going on, but definitely has something to say about it.

Sure, relationships can be exciting! They can also be confusing, unexpected, and expose us to profound emotional risk. However, relationships are worth exploring, and if we’re willing to be vulnerable, can fill up the empty or wounded spaces in our hearts.

And if that doesn’t work? Well, get a dog.

    The Rehearsals

    Sundays 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, beginning January 2.

    A read-through will be held in December.

    The cast will be expected to be off-book by the scheduled rehearsal date for each scene. (Example: for Rehearsal #1, have pages 1-14 memorized.)

     

    The Performances

    February 28 - March 10:

  • 7:30 pm performances on Thu., Fri., Sat. (Thursday first weekend only)
  • 2:00 pm matinee performances on Sundays

  • Monday, December 3, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Callbacks (if needed): Tuesday, December 4, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

    Auditionees must sign up for one-hour sessions. Walk-ins may be accommodated in the next available session.

    You must arrive 10 minutes early to fill out information. Late arrivals will be delayed to the next available one-hour session. Each session may have up to eight auditionees.

    Auditions will consist of readings from the script (see next) and other audition exercises.

    The Characters

    EUGENE: Male, canine (unspecified), any age (preferably older); superior, intelligent, particular, sarcastic with a dry wit.

    CHARLOTTE: Female, 20-45; kind, hard-working, intellectual. She has a gentle, patient nature with particular and nervous tendencies.

    ROBERT: Male, 20-55; A tolerably good guy, he enjoys his life and has an enduringly upbeat attitude. He’s in love with Charlotte, as well as his new rescue dog, Bella.

    BELLA: Female, canine (Maltese), any age (preferably younger); happy, loves attention, and could charm the lolli off a pop.

    SUZANNE: Female, Transgender (can be played by an actor of any sex/gender), 30-80. Nosy, a bit abrasive, and in the midst of emotional/physical transition, she also cares greatly for her neighbor, Charlotte. Borderline alcoholic. Not a dog lover
